Spring Migration Photo Walk: Bird Photography with Kane Gin

Spring is one of the best times to get outside with your camera, and with the migration in full swing, there’s no shortage of movement to capture.

We’re meeting at Oak Hammock Marsh on Saturday, May 16 at 10:00 a.m. for a free bird photography photo walk with Kane Gin of Juniper Extract Photography.

Kane is known for photographing fast moving subjects in flight, from hummingbirds to swallows and even dragonflies. His work focuses on timing, patience, and understanding movement, making this a great opportunity to pick up tips while shooting in real time.

This isn’t a formal workshop. It’s a casual, hands-on morning where you can learn by doing, ask questions as you go, and spend time creating alongside other photographers. Whether you’re working on improving your wildlife photography or just want a reason to get outside and shoot, this is an easy way to get involved.

There’s no registration required, so all you need to do is bring your camera and meet us there.

International Women’s Day Photo Walk with Loso

Celebrate International Women’s Day with a relaxed Sunday photo walk through Winnipeg’s East Exchange.

On Sunday, March 8th, we’re gathering at the Gandhi statue outside the Canadian Museum for Human Rights for a casual, community-driven stroll led by local photographer Loso.

A home-grown Winnipegger with strong inner-city roots, Loso has spent the past two decades documenting people, landscapes, and the character of our urban environment.

Whether she’s chasing auroras, exploring quiet backroads, or capturing candid street moments, her work is rooted in storytelling and connection to place.

This walk is all about slowing down and seeing the city through a different lens. Bring your film camera, digital setup, or simply come along for the experience and conversation. No pressure, no formal instruction - just a chance to connect, create, and celebrate the creative community together.

This event is free and open to everyone. All mediums and experience levels are welcome.

An Introduction to Film Photography for Saskatoon Creatives

We are excited to bring Film Photography Fundamentals to Saskatoon as our first Saskatchewan event of 2026.

Led by Layla from Media Bokeh, this hands on workshop is designed to make film photography feel approachable and easy to understand. Whether you are completely new to film or looking to strengthen your foundation, this session focuses on clarity, confidence, and practical skills you can use right away.

During the workshop, Layla will walk through the key differences between 35mm and 120 film, how film physically works inside a camera, and what that means when you are shooting. Participants will learn how to confidently load and unload film, how to use a handheld light meter to determine proper exposure, and how to choose the right film stock for different lighting conditions and creative goals.

The workshop will also cover what to look for when buying or testing a used film camera, along with best practices for caring for both film cameras and film stock. Live demonstrations using real gear will help turn concepts into hands on understanding, making the process feel less intimidating and more intuitive.

If you own a film camera or handheld light meter, you are welcome to bring it along. If not, no problem. Demo gear will be available during the workshop.

Photography Night at the Royal Aviation Museum

Photography Night is happening at the Royal Aviation Museum on February 21, 2026 . This after-hours event invites photographers and creators to explore the museum, photograph aircraft and exhibits, and try out Don’s Photo gear throughout the evening.

From 6:00 to 9:00 PM , attendees are welcome to wander the museum at their own pace, capturing everything from wide architectural shots to detailed close-ups. A demo table will be set up with a selection of Don’s Photo gear available to try, making it a great opportunity to get hands-on while shooting in a unique environment.

At 7:00 PM , guests will have the opportunity to hear from Corporal Connor Buchanan , an Imagery Technician with the Royal Canadian Air Force , who will share insight into photographing aviation and military operations. His talk offers a behind-the-scenes look at the role of imaging within the RCAF and how photography is used in real-world aviation settings.

After 7:30 PM , lighting throughout the museum will be reduced to create a more atmospheric shooting environment. This shift in lighting is ideal for photographers looking to experiment with mood, shadows, and low-light techniques.

Admission for Photography Night is 50% off regular museum entry (see the Royal Aviation Museum website for pricing details). Admission is paid at the door , and no early registration is required .

Attendees are invited to submit their work to the Aviation Imaging Photo & Video Contest after Photography Night. Entries can be submitted through the Royal Aviation Museum website , and three winners will be selected.

Tamron Americas announces a series of free online master classes led by professional photographers and filmmakers. These multi-part courses are designed for enthusiasts looking to elevate their skills and creativity, as well as seasoned professionals aiming to grow their business.

We’re teaming up with Leif Norman and FLASH Photographic Festival for a casual downtown photo walk on August 19 - and you’re invited.

We’ll be meeting at Portage & Main (right in front of the old Bank of Montreal building) at 7PM and making our way toward the river. Expect a fun route with lots of photo-worthy stops along the way.

The walk is film-themed, but don’t stress - all cameras and formats are welcome , whether you’re shooting on 35mm, digital, or just your phone. It’s all about getting out, taking some photos, and connecting with other folks who love photography as much as you do.

This summer, we’re teaming up with Chrissy Troy from 103.1 Virgin Radio for an evening walk through one of the city’s most colourful corners: the West End. It’s part photo walk, part storytelling tour, and a chance to slow down, snap some shots, and take in the vibrant public art that makes the neighbourhood so unique.

�� We’ll be meeting out front of Don’s Photo (379 Broadway) and heading into the West End from there. Along the way, you’ll hear a few stories behind the murals, meet fellow photographers and creatives, and (of course) find no shortage of great spots to shoot.

Led by cultural historian Britt Bauer, this free walking tour will highlight locations in Winnipeg’s downtown and Exchange District that have been meaningful to the city’s 2SLGBTQIA+ communities over the years.

Britt, a queer and neurodivergent PhD student in classics and anthropology, is passionate about telling stories that haven’t always made it into the textbooks. From gathering places to safe havens, this tour uncovers the people, spaces, and resilience that have shaped our city’s queer history.
